Jordan’s Government Dismissed

Jordan’s king dismissed his government after thousands took to the streets and called for the resignation of Prime Minister Samir Rifai, who is blamed for a rise in fuel and food prices and slowed political reforms. The Royal Palace said Rifai’s cabinet resigned Tuesday. King Abdullah nominated Marouf al-Bakhit as his prime minister-designate, and asked a former army general to form a new cabinet.
